Thesis in life cycle assessment of technology materials
Are you a student writing a thesis in the spring? Take a chance and apply to Mousetrapper, one of Sweden’s leading companies within ergonomic technology. In their direction towards a more sustainable business, they are looking for a future focused person with a heart for the environment!
About Mousetrapper
Moustrapper started their company with a computer mouse in 1994 when the Swedish inventor Rolf Strömberg launched their first Mousetrapper – a mouse alternative that prevents repetitive strain injury and other issues that can occur when you work with a traditional mouse. Since then they have extended their range of
“Fight-the-Pain-products”. Sustainability is the core of the company and they always thrive to minimize their impact on the environment. They produce their products locally in Sweden which reduces the transportation needs. This gives them the transparency of the entire production which improves the quality – and assures a sustainable process.
What can I do and learn during my thesis?
During your internship, you will write a life cycle assessment (LCA) of Mousetrappers products in order to give an overall picture of the total environmental impact. From raw material extraction through manufacturing processes, and to waste management including transport and all energy consumption that comes in between. This assessment will permeate their entire business and the LCA will be an important part to help find ways to improve their operations.
As a thesis writing student you will play a key role in the work on the analysis and Mousetrappers sustainability work. Together with the sustainability department and an external consultant, you will provide an overall picture of the environmental impact of their products and make concrete suggestions for improvement. You will be assisting the company with a better understanding and identifying important priority areas in product design and its footprints.
