ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Manager

Responsibilities and learning opportunities

As an ESG Manager you will be part of Swedfund’s ESG & Impact Team that is responsible for integrating ESG & Impact considerations into their investment process and developing their sustainability approach. You will conduct ESG analysis of new potential investments (ESG due diligence); monitor their current portfolio companies’ ESG performance through annual online surveys, calls and visits; and assist their portfolio companies to develop their ESG management systems and value creation activities as a part of Swedfund’s investment teams. Also, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Swedfund’s sustainability framework, tools, and reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant working experience in responsible investment and sustainability, such as ESG Manager, Sustainability Consultant or Sustainability Officer
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sustainability studies, development studies, financial or business studies)
  • Experience and knowledge from the financial sector (banks, financial institutions, or private equity funds). For example, experience from working with sustainability data within banking/financial institutions or as a consultant.
  • Experience and knowledge in environmental and social risk frameworks (such as IFC Performance Standards, ILO conventions) and ability to apply them in a global context
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • As a person you are flexible to different ways of working and open minded in cross-cultural cooperations, with personal integrity to be able to set boundaries in your work.

Meriting

  • Understanding of Development Finance (such as from IFC, World Bank, AfDB, MFIs and DFIs) is a merit
  • Understanding of non-financial reporting frameworks, such as Integrated Reporting and GRI Standards is an advantage
  • Interest in developing countries
  • Additional language skills in french, professional level, is an advantage

Location: Stockholm, Drottninggatan 92-94.

Type of contract: Full-time employment
Start date: During april 2022
Traveling: Travels will be required to developing countries in this position depending on the covid situation.
